BESPOKE WEDDING RITUALS

One-of-a-Kind Wedding Rituals—Because Your Ceremony Should Be as Unique as You Are

If you’ve ever sat through a wedding ceremony and thought, “That was lovely… but it could have been anyone’s,” then you’ll understand why bespoke rituals are such a special part of what I offer as a celebrant.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all ceremonies. In fact, my favourite part of the job is co-creating unique, meaningful—and often hilarious—moments that reflect exactly who you are as a couple. Whether you’re marrying in the UK, celebrating in Spain, or planning a destination wedding anywhere across Europe, your ceremony deserves personality, authenticity, and a little bit of theatre.

Bespoke Rituals That Celebrate You

Over the years, I’ve helped couples craft all kinds of personal rituals, each one as unique as their love story. From honouring cultural heritage to celebrating your quirks, interests or shared history, the possibilities are endless.

Here are just a few of my favourites:

💫 Gary & Tom’s Tuaca Showdown

These two legends kicked off their ceremony with a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors—the winner got to choose between a celebratory shot of Tuaca (their favourite!) or a slightly suspicious mystery shot (think: vinegar, chilli or worse). It was totally them—funny, unexpected, and full of energy. Their guests loved it.
Want to do something bold and brilliant? I’m always up for it.

🥖🍷 Polish/Irish Heritage Ritual

For one couple, we honoured their Polish and Irish roots with a symbolic tasting ritual: bread (to represent home), salt (to ward off hardship), wine (for joy), and a shot of vodka and water—which kept everyone guessing! A heartfelt nod to tradition with a modern, inclusive twist.

🍸 Mojito Marriage

Did you fall in love over cocktails? One couple who met over mojitos had a bespoke ritual that likened each ingredient to a quality in their relationship: sugar for sweetness, lime for zest, mint for freshness, and rum for that all-important kick.

🦁 12 Symbols of Life: A South African-Inspired Ritual

For a couple who got engaged in South Africa, I created a 12-symbol ritual drawing inspiration from animals, nature, and cultural icons of the region. It added depth and soul to the ceremony—and transported their guests right back to the place where it all began.

🪄 Harry Potter-Themed Handfasting

A little magic never hurt anyone. For a pair of Potterheads, we created a spellbinding handfasting complete with colour-coded cords to represent their Hogwarts houses and quotes woven into the script. Mischief managed!

Want to Include Your Family or Friends?

Many of these rituals are also a beautiful way to involve others—children, step-parents, godchildren, grandparents, friends. Whether it’s choosing a ribbon for a handfasting, passing the rings through a warming ritual, or sharing a toast during a unity shot ceremony, your guests will feel part of your love story.

Let’s Create Something No One Else Has Seen

Your guests will say, “That was the best wedding ceremony I’ve ever been to”—because they’ll know it was yours. Not copied. Not canned. Not predictable.

I write every ceremony from scratch—based on your love story, your energy, and your values. If a traditional ritual doesn’t feel like you, we’ll invent something new. That’s the joy of working with a celebrant.

📍Whether you’re planning a wedding in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, or anywhere else in Europe,** I’ll work with you to create a moment that surprises, delights, and stays with you long after the last dance.

Final Thought

There are no rules—just endless opportunities to express your love in a way that’s personal, meaningful, and unforgettable. So if you’ve got a wild idea, a family tradition, or a shared obsession... let’s turn it into a ceremony moment you’ll never forget.

📩 Let’s chat about your story, your people, and your perfect blend of romance, ritual and ridiculousness.
